No-exam life insurance

What qualifies someone for expedited underwriting, the way it functions, and what shifts if you don't qualify.

A lot of insurers now provide accelerated underwriting: for applicants within set age and amount parameters, companies use your application, prescription records, driving history and additional information to make a decision rather than scheduling a paramedical check. Approvals sometimes arrive the same business day. Every quote shown here indicates if an exam is required, might be requested, or not needed for that specific product.

What it changes

Going without an exam doesn't bypass underwriting. Your application gets verified, and policies issued with false information can be challenged within the first two years. If data obtained by the carrier creates concerns, an exam or testing might be requested; you decide whether to move ahead.

Who tends to qualify

Commonly people under around 60, requesting amounts within the carrier's accelerated cap, with a clean health background and no tobacco use in the preceding year or longer. If you've seen a physician with blood tests recently, several carriers will use those instead of doing an exam.

When an exam is necessary, it's generally a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical professional at your place or workplace in the Jurupa Valley region, with no cost to you. For applicants in good health, test results frequently yield a lower rate class, so an exam can actually help rather than hurt.
